01 Impala DIY Aux input

Hi, my car has a single cd changer, and no cassette player. I would just burn cd's but recently my car will not play the cd's I have made.

I am wondering if anyone has been able to locate and tap in a 3.5mm aux line for a phone or ipod? I have searched and haven't found anything on it.

I was planning on just having my aux jack go directly to the amplifier, but still use the existing wires that the radio uses. I have looked at wiring diagrams for the amp, but cannot determine which wires are for the radio.

Has anyone tried to do this, or would know which wire's I should use?
Also, my car is 01 ls. Thanks

Did you ever figure out how to tap in?.....Ive been trying to research this as well with no avail and I cannot find a wire diagrahm for the cd changer connection. If we could figure out what wires are for the factory changer input channels it may be only a challange of makeing the radio think a changer is connected......
A $50 harness seems ridiculous when I know it can be done cheaper and im more then willing to figure out how if I could get a wiring diagrahm.

What you are looking for is called a "universal wired FM modulator". It adds an aux input through your antenna. It will require removing the dash/radio and also require the proper antenna adapters. It can be done for around $30-50

Amazon.com: universal fm modulator Amazon.com: universal fm modulator

Thats exactly what I dont want... those are expensive and sound like shit. I know you can tap into radio and use it through the aux button for a cd changer.....They sell modded radios on ebay.....
What I want is direction on how to do this on my own. Its a $10 mod at the most

They sound like crap? How do you know? Too expensive?

Not worth the risk by modding your stock deck. Time for an upgrade

fm modulators are crap...Ive never heard one with cd quility. The $50 for a aftermarket aux in seems ridiculous when I know its only 3 wires.....Ive rebuilt entire Cars including my current 62 lesabre with a full handmade fiberglass dash and bags still a work in progress but I think I can handle modifying a stock deck ....I just want the input and im broke...I can not find a wiring diagrahm for the stock disc changer anywhere
