Can I replace onstar module with one with bluetooth? 2011 Imala

I have a 11 Impala LT. It has onstar but no bluetooth. (Has something to do with being from a rental fleet)
Can I replace the onstar LG module in the trunk with a module that has bluetooth included? They look almost identical.
mine has the steering wheel controls

Explain why? they both use the same harness. The only difference is that the bluetooth one has an extra antena port

There us a module you can buy called blustar that replaces onstar with bluetooth. The only disadvantage is that you lose onstar. It isn't an onstar add on, it is a replacement.

OK guys, got that part.. However the bluetooth is integrated into to LG on-star module. The harnesses for the Bluetooth Enabled and the nonBluetooth are identical. ONLY difference is that the bt one has an extra antenna port..
So tell me why it wouldn't work?
The radio /HU is the same in BT and Non BT models
The Steering Controls are the Same in the BT and non BT models
The harness is identical on both models

So I could just buy it and try it, but was wondering if anyone else had looked that deep into the 11's and tried it.

Got it working

Yeah Just wanted to let everyone who reads this know....

I took an Onstar W BlueTooth out of an 2012 Malibu and installed it in my 2011 Impala LT and it works fine, Onstar updated the info on the vehicle and the bluetooth now works in my impala

No wiring changes are needed, plug the unit into the existing harnesses and connect the antenna for the bluetooth that you need to take from a vehicle or buy at the parts department

I am on a roll of being wrong. Thanks for the good info OP! Previous folks who attempted this said it was wildly cost prohibitive. Glad you straightened it out for us (me).

It should use the same mic that onstar uses, which is on the rear view mirror. And play over the regular speakers, just like onstar.

Oh yeah, I forgot the Mic is in the mirror since I took mine off. But I remember Todd had something by his driver seat sun visor. I believe he told me it was the bt speaker or mic. Idk tho he's been on a wrong streak
