I have two old Kicker CompVR 12's and a Rockford Fosgate 500-1bd amp. More than enough bass. You sound like you're trying to do something similar to me, just something to fill out the sound while maintaining clear mids and highs.

I got rid of my 12in dual voice coil 100oz quad stacked magnet subs that i had. (originally had three but got a 2 12in box for the impala and used 2 of them) It was way to much for daily driving. I ended up getting some basic single voice coil like 250rms light weight subs and a 1000max kenwood amp. The big subs are way to slow to keep up with most music and hit way to low and "sloppy". I like a more accurate "clean" bass now a days.
I would even suggest 2 10in subs. They hit lows and mids very good and can keep up very accurately and cleanly with all music. In my opinon the best setup for a daily driving situation. I wouldnt go with a single sub setup unless your goin with a bass tube(which probly wont sound good in a impala). Go with a sealed not ported box, it will give you nice clean accurate bass hits and hit mids real nice also. If you really want to go ported go with a good brand bandpass box. Thats just my opinion but im sure some of the guys here that do comp's and do it professionally or as a hobby know alot more than me and will argue some points. Also most people are die hard 12in guys and hate the 10in subs. The first pic is currently what i have in my impala. I only ended up using one amp not both of them in the pic. I have the subs facing my rear seat not the trunk cause the rear end rattles like crazy as it is. The second pic is from 3 years and 100lbs ago lol. just throwin it in there so no one thinks im talking out of my ass. ps. The pile amplifier box was for a 4 channel pyle amp for my door speakers dont tear me apart for having the pyle brand in my car i was 16 in highschool and broke as a joke ![]() The third pic that gray box in the back with the mtx subs was a audiobahn bandpass box. The best box i had ever owned hands down. Till this day i still havent found a box with the same frequency and accuracy of that box. __________________ Pictures and mod list here http://www.impalaforums.com/chevy-im...-mad-pics.html ![]() Know the truth http://infowars.com |

Thanks C.E., Valid points on the big 3 upgrade. That's always the first mod I do on any of my cars. Not only for audio but it is just better for your car period. People love to go out and blow money on dry cell's and capacitors with out knowing what they are doing. Ever most bigger systems that you will see daily driving all you really need is a deep cycle marine battery and the big 3 upgrade. I'm running a stock battery, stock alternator, big 3 upgrade, 1000watt max(500rms) at 2ohms kenwood amp. ($100) 2 4ohm 12in mtx subs (200rms each) ($100) a box that is built right for my subs and tuned right for my subs ($80?) Subs wired the right way in parallel (Priceless) all that cost me under $400 brand new and i can blow away 90% of the guys that spend 2,3,4,5 times as much as me if i actually turned my amp up cause they dont have a clue what they are doing. and my bass isnt so loud it just sounds like a bunch of loud farts. and i can run that a duty cycle at max volume all day every day. My bass doesnt hit hard for 10min then over heat my amp or cut out. Like that guy talking about running .6ohm's. Someone wondering about saving $240 on there bass setup for a headunit is not worried about running 1ohm or under stable with there system. Your just an idiot coping and pasting off the internet. Its people like you who feed people the wrong info and make them believe it and they wonder why they are burning up altenators every month. Before anyone else brings this up ill explain. Yes, i do have a capacitor and I know it isnt really doing me any good because im running a stock altenator and battery. But, i had it laying around and its just in there for looks and shits and giggles. ( It has a cool LED Volt Meter in it ) Good advice C.E. Keep it up. People really need help when it comes to their systems!__________________ Pictures and mod list here http://www.impalaforums.com/chevy-im...-mad-pics.html ![]() Know the truth http://infowars.com |
