Lucerne steering wheel into impala?

Very curious if anyone know if you can take the heated steering wheel out of a 2010 Buick lucurne ( or any other vehicle with a similar looking steering wheel), and put it into a 08 Impala SS? The heat button is on the wheel so I don't know if it needs input from the BCM or anywhere else.

Along the same subject, is it possible to take the radio/AC controls from that same lucurne (or any other vehicle with the nicer AC controls) and put them in an Impala?
Thank you!

I don't know about the steering wheel. That's an interesting idea. I did look into switching over the automatic climate controls at one point. It turns out it was going to be a much bigger deal and far more than simply replacing the controls. A way bigger deal. I wish I could tell you exactly what, but that's all I remember when I looked into doing it on my 2009 Super Sport.

Ah, I see. Good to know. I was hoping it would be a nice simple plug in. I just like the nicer digital displays of the lucurne.

And before I pull the trigger on a steering wheel, I'd like to know it works. Hopefully someone chime in and say it works.

Sorry if I'm wandering off topic, but I wonder how the heater is powered, in particular, if they're using the same clock spring (ie, ~slip rings) as before, or if they had to beef it up to handle the higher currents associated with heating.

It won't draw the level of current seen in rear window defrosters, but it will draw lots more current than the volume control button :) That is, the wiring for the traditional steering wheel functions (horn, air bag, radio) is handling relatively lower currents than I would expect a heater to draw. So I'm thinking GM mighta had to go to a new clock spring for the heated wheel.

I can't help with this topic but I was just curious if the op is related to Mr. Green Jeans?

So do we know that GM used different clock springs in the different platform cars? I know that the Impala are W and the Lucurne are G, but you never know. These cars were produced at the same time so GM may have been smart and ... probably answered my own question there... they could have been smart and used them cross platform.

Also, an additional circuit would be needed for that heating functionality, regardless of how the power is delivered.
I thought the same thing as well.
Here is a link to a lucerne steering wheel. It has a picture of the wiring harness.

Can anybody confirm that the wiring harness would go into the Impala's? And (if you're good) compare the two to see if that is where the heat circuit is. I look for a picture to compare, but did not find one.

I can't help with this topic but I was just curious if the op is related to Mr. Green Jeans?
Yeah, no.

Thank you guys for the input!

FYI, below is what I found at gmpartsdirect.com regarding the clock spring and heated wheel.

Turns out, the Impala uses a different clock spring than the Lucerne, which uses two different ones depending on whether a heated wheel is used. At that point, some electrical drawings are needed to see the wiring differences and ascertain the impact on the project. Hope that's not a deal breaker for Mr Brown Pants.

Great find.
Didn't know about the enclave. I would like the wood. It would match the rest of my interior.
Looks like they use a completely different design and all. They look very incompatible. If they were close I might give it a try but it looks like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.
Well that's most certainly a bummer. Dangit GM.
