Leather interior swap?

Hey guys.. back from the dead here after losing my password in a alcohol-laptop related incident...

Anyways.. Ive always wanted to switch out the stain-catching and dust-trapping cloth seats in my 07 impala for a leather interior.

I've researched a little and apparently some guy had an issue on his passenger side with wiring?

Also, I made some calls to people parting cars out and they told me they could not sell me the front two seats because they have airbags in them (is this just a NY state thing) ..?

This is the first I've heard of this, and now I am doubting where it can be done. What do you think? Is this possible?

PS: I had an 03 trailblazer I swapped leather seats in to with no problem... my passenger seat in that was not powered originally (just like the impala) and the new powered seat worked fine because there was a harness already there I just plugged the new one in to. Is it foolish to believe that the impala will be similar?

Basically if anyone wouldn't mind labelling which wire does what that'd be ultra helpful. Maybe draw a picture and upload it, or picture edit and draw it in with arrows?

Even a list would be great.

As usual, many thanks to @Revo2Maxx2016 for his help. I wouldn't be as far in my process without him.

Im thinking I could do a write up too if people were interested.

@A1_Imp Trying to find them wires lol. Was the year of the donor car the same? Or was it newer? Also looking at the wiring it almost looks like a 3 set of wires. Hard to tell or I can't see right. Does the harness have any lettering or numbering at either end? or is this the case of jut one harness side? with the other end clipped. Like if you look at the end does it have A or 1 at any of the holes. Most times they have something could be one end may have 12 at the top left and 1 bottom left. Just trying to get an idea what is where so if I do find the wiring I know where to start or if I am say looking at a 3 row connector but only find 2 row then I know I am on the wrong one.

Looking at the picture almost looks like there is 3 Red and white that goes in the end. Why I asked if there is 2 or 3 rows?

If your able to get a Picture of the Seat side connector and also a picture of the end inside to the picture above. Maybe on the end picture a slight angle so we could see the wire colors. Sorry it isn't easy not being able to touch probe and test these wires.

Sadly there is a lot of things that are going on here with the power seats lol. Seeing they are heated, and give data for air bag for Passenger Presence system.

I am looking sorry it is taking a while. Maybe there is someone that has the info already or is working on theirs and able to help as well may chime in.

It is a two row plug. The "top" row is lettered A-F. The "bottom" row is lettered G-M.

I'll try to post the pictures now.

I think this afternoon I'm going to try to do the wiring. Just to be safe, i'll disconnect the battery.

I don't think I'll be messing with anything to do with the airbags but you never know.

The A-F is the clip side of the plug

So to recap, The A starts with the big red/white striped power wire, then goes to green, pink, blue, gray, and black.

The G starts with a slightly smaller red and white wire and green, pink, turquoise(?) blue, and black (what I assume is the ground).

So theres that. Lol

I swapped the leather in and getting the passenger seat to move is easy enough but all my research has led me to believe the heated seats go through the bcm so I'm going to look into rewiring them into a normal rocker switch

Dumb question: has anyone priced the cost for re-skinning your existing cloth seats with leather? There are companies which make OEM-look skins which are designed to be put on by an upholstery shop (not cheapo seat covers) or the intrepid DIY-er.

The prices are all over the board, but a quick internet search found a seller of DIY install kits for around $800.00 for a 2012 Impala. Recovering your original seats would eliminate the above-discussed wiring issues.

Just a thought....
