So I lucked out and got a sweet deal on an retired police '06 impala that I've been cleaning up. But I really don't like the look of the non-foglight white bumper. So, is it possible to just cut out out the fog light area and install the black bezel? I don't plan to install the lights, as I read that it's not possible without getting a new bumper. Just wondering how the bezel mounts up and if I'd have to jerry-rig it in? Thanks.
No way to (properly) mount the foglight bezel on the non-foglight bumper... You would need a different bumper to mount it properly. They do sell little "inserts" you can install into the non-foglight openings though - check my garage for pics).
This is on my summer to-do list. I know they say they don't fit but I have a few ideas up my sleeve to get the to fit. Going to install my projectors down there for bixenon fog lights.
Thanks for the help, at least for now I just dipped the middle part which I think looks a lot better at least. Kg2014 do you have an aftermarket bezel on yours or did you paint the whole area? It looks great!
Much easier to use a fine line vinyl tape. You can stretch it to fit the contours. Then go back over with the painters tape to finish masking it off (without having to be as precise around the edges)
^^Just curious - can you find this "fine line vinyl" tape at local Walmarts, etc? I've never heard of it before, but it sounds like a great idea for plastidip - it's a bitch taping off curves properly with the blue painters tape!
When I dipped mine I could never get the lines right with the curves so I taped about 1/4 inch around the whole opening. Then after letting dip dry, used a utility knife to gently cut the dip in the groove. Then peeled excess dip off.
