Here is where I will be posting any future updates to my headlights/retrofit. Once school slows down in a few weeks I will also be posting a DIY for how to retrofit for the beginners. First off to start off with what I have for my headlights. I have the black depos with Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 projectors with a red passive demon eye, Morimoto RGB demon eye, Morimoto SXB LED Switchback Halos 2.0, Morimoto 4500k 3five HID kit, LED white running/amber switchback blinkers, side marker to blinker conversion with Morimoto LED, and the halos wired into a relay to turn on with the running lights and off with the low beams on. Also have 5000k HID high beam kit as well and color matching shrouds. Many lighting things but I love it. I am now looking to open the headlights once again to get the factory sealant all out and replace the with the new Morimoto retrorubber. Also to solder all wire connections. First off I would like your opinion on which of the following for the new Morimoto SXB Switchback LED strips that are 18" that I will be installing. Which ones do you think will look best? They will be on when ever the running lights are on, including WITH the low beams. Thanks!
Current set up:
Demon Eyes:
New halos:
Low beams: Pictures don't do justice! Snow bank is a good 60-70 feet away.
High beam day time:
High beam and blinker:
Blinker:
Halo and running light output ONLY:
New LED strip option 1:
Option 2:
Option 3:
Option 4: Disregard the little white spot on the bumper.
Option 5:
Option 6: I'm leaning towards this one as it looks more aggressive.
I got to looking are your winter rims the N99's (9c1)? if so ya should get some of the wheel center covers and paint them red while leaving the centers black or just adapt them to the stock rims.....it would make them pop!.....again just my $.02 worth!
No they are not. I wish they we're as I would totally have bought them by now. I plan on tapping them in the summer tho and getting them ready to use the wheel center covers. Also thanks for the other reply!
Finally got all the pictures for the DYI for the retrofit. Now to do it. Spring break coming up soon. I will do it then hopefully. Should be getting the new headlight parts soon too.
Hey KG, Im with option 6 also, but instead of stopping short of the switchback, I'd try to turn that corner and up 1 inch, right to the start of the switchback cavity.
Should be ordering these soon. Spring break next week will be a perfect time to install them. Also talked to them about upgrading my projectors. I will be going with the new mini d2s 4.0 due to be released in the summer. With some OEM bulbs and 90 mm XSB halos with the RGB demon eyes and the 18" switchback strips. So that means I will be selling my mini h1 6.0's, with new 4500k morimoto bulbs and 70mm switchback halos for cheap. So be on the look out for that this summer!
Heres some photos, holy $hit are these things bright. Installing them Sunday seeing how I'm off and its supposed to be around 60* outside. Note: the only lights on in these photos are one of the two strips.

So what do you guys think? They are also backed with 3M tape too.
Well all done, option 6, wouldn't work due to the strips not being flexible enough from side to side, which was ok, I'm loving the look now! Let me know what you guys think, I wired these ones to stay on with the low beams but still have the halos turn off with the low beams.

More shots coming soon and hopefully some night times ones too!
I hate to sound negative, but I agree with RYD here... Not a fan of the straight light bar at the bottom. Just looks too "homemade" and doesn't really add much in my opinion. Just my opinion though - what matter is that you like it!
The halos look great though - love the amber/white switching!
No problem guys! I'm not like some previous members who get all mad when someone doesn't like something, I am loving them now, especially because it is switchback, when I go to quads I might take it out as I don't want it to be too tacky. But for now its there.
I thought that at first too, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. I was really going for the look, with the strip heading up the side of the headlight, but like I said they just are not that flexible.
What about something like EL wire - would that be bright enough and flexible enough to use around the headlights?
