I think I know that the 2012 is the only one with the VVT V6 engine. Let me know if there are any others (2011 or earlier) out there that have the VVT V6 and what if anything that you did to tune the performance on it.

I'm thinking about getting the HP-Tuners software and attempting to "tune" in the performance. Like eco with traction on and sport with traction off so the valves are not always changing on me just when I need then the most.

My reason for this is that I have found that the VVT can vary at the "wrong" time producing a few seconds throttle delay while the engine re-adjusts.

I thought it was only the 2012's that came with the new 300hp v6 similar to the v6 Camaro's.

I haven't heard of any mods for the 2012's but you might look into what the v6 camaro people are doing.

The 3.9 in my 2006 is a VVT engine but I have left it alone.
Is the "new" V6 ( same as the Camaro engine) not the same one that was used in the Cadi CTS around 06 / 07 ?
I think I heard that someplace once but never confirmed it

I would stay away from hp tuners unless you are trained to use it. You could easily mess something up if you aren't knowledgeable in the way to tune a car. Its not like getting a hypertech tuner and just plugging it in, telling it what you want and then hitting the road.

Yes the 2012 has all that you say cause I own it!
I will search it but I think the programming must be different since the Camaro is RWD and the Impala is FWD. Not sure

Correct on the 2012!

I looked in to the 2011, but I did not see VVT in any of the engine options and I was not impressed with the HP of even the 3.9, I think it was like 230HP??? What made it even funny was the there was the GM comparisons and the competitors had way more HP and torque.

From what I read on the internet (and that makes it true) it is the same. The engine code is LFX and I found the link but don't have it at hand... I believe that there is a GM Performance part site that list the cars that get the LFX and HP/TQ ratings... I will see if I can find it and post back here.

I looked to Hypertech and their reply was there is not enough of a demand so they don't think that they will even make a tune for it.
They did provide me a like to request it, I will leave it here and the group here can hit them up and who knows, maybe they will have one out next year??? As far as the HP-Tuners, I would have to see if I can talk to a service tech and get their help and in return we could tune others for some $$. It's worth a try. Anyone need a ????lb paper weight, looks like an Impala. (I was going to make a joke here but I can't find a general weight of the Impala. I guess they weigh each car as it leaves the factory and post that on the B-pillar - I have the owners manual and the brochure and neither tell the curb weight, why?)

Just for clarification, all the 3.5/3.9's were vvt, but they are very different from the new 3.6 in other aspects.

Have you called a company that tunes camaros with the v6? They may be able to help you out.
