2008 impala lt battery issues

My wife's 2008 Impala LT with the 3.5 L engine. She made a short trip to day and killed the battery so the car would not start. Seems that she had the rear defroster, the fan on high, Headlights on and what not. The battery is the original that came with the car. I am thinking of replacing the battery. I normally like to put the largest battery that will fit in the tray. From what I found on line is a group 34 with 850 CCA.

BTW I don't want to put an Optima battery in the car..

Idea's ?

just wondering, why don't you want an optima? if I did not have my red top optima, I would probably go with interstate.

Don't go with a walmart battery. I call them neverstarts. Diehard batteries from sears, or duralast gold from autozone (personal preference, I work there) Duralast batteries and diehard are made by the same guys. I never have any returns on duralast golds due to warranty claims. Interstate batteries are also nice.

And aren't the OE batteries 600 CCA, not 850? Maybe 850 CA instead of CCA.

Duralast golds have a little better warranty. I don't have any experience with napa batteries, but they ate made by deka, a good brand, and seem to have positive reviews online. You seem to be doing well in your own picking a battery, its good to see that you don't want to cheap out on one.

Diehard, Duralast Gold or Interstate are my choices.

Still wondering Herd, what's the issue with Optima? Have you had bad luck with one?

I ended up getting a SEARS DieHard Gold Battery 795 CCA for my wife's IMPALA LT..
My son works at the Local Sears store so we got it there.. Speaking about my son, Back when he had a 94 Camaro we had a OPTMA battery and it went dead, You are supposed to use a special charger to get it back.. We used a battery tender to get it back. He had issues with that battery so we went to Batteries Plus and they gave us a new one after a fee.. If I were to buy a high end battery again, I would go with an Odyssey battery or the Diehard Platinum.

As always I get the most cranking amps I can get to fit in the battery tray.

It's a crap shoot to know where your battery was made

See here:

HEARD546,

Since bought new I've gone through two bateries all installed by GM. They connected the negative cable incorrectly causing the battery to drain slowly instead of charging when the motor was running. Although they both were under warranty I noticed how small those batteries are for my SS model.

My basic suggestion is to check your battery cables on the other end instead of the battery sidee making sure of proper contact.

Good luck,

Durango

Hmm thats strange that the WalMart battery is so bad, because all three of these batteries you stated are made by Johnson Contols?

You really think every battery they make is the same quality? Come on cheaper batteries aren't as good as expensive ones that's why they are cheap.

What about the Eliminator batteries at Canadian Tire? I've used them in older vehicles and they last really long.
