Check Engine Light - Code P0011

OK, been having a surging issue for quite some time now-lots of injector cleaner, seafoam, new OE plugs and wires, dealer replaced a few solenoids in the transmission....

And finally, I got a Check Engine Light. Code P0011, Stopped at AutoZone, Camshaft position system fault.

Interestingly, once I got the light, no more surging !!! (why do I want to fix this then?)

Ordered the Camshaft position sensor.

Has anyone seen this issue or an issue with Cam position sensor before?

Can anyone tell where this sensor is located? And how to replace it?

Thanks in advance.

Which engine? I believe it's on the front of the motor (pulley side) just forward of the intake, looks like the pigtail just goes straight into the block but there is a little bolt there.

Possibly, I would try to get a look before taking anything apart. I'll try to remember to check my manual later to see.

Thanks, Kingnutin, would appreciate your guideance.

I've looked around the front of the engine, but the spot appears to be obstructed by the PS and a pully.

Got a Haynes manual, it has a pretty good picture, but I think it may be with components removed.

Checked the manual, that's it alright. PS pump needs to be removed to get at it, luckily it's really easy to remove.

Got it!

Thanks, Kingnutin! Flushed out my power steering while I was there too.

Appears to have solved my surging/miss/hesitation issus that I've had for quite a while. Horray!

Car seems to perform much better now, quicker reaction to the accelerator pedal.

Thanks to all!

Wonder what went wrong with it? Never heard of one actually going bad before.
