Okay guys, been a while since ive had a problem with my impala, but right now im a little skeptical of my temperature reading falsely.

Everyday on startup from sitting overnight, ive noticed my temperature gauge had been reading near between the 1/4 mark and cold mark. It doesnt even begine at the cold mark. (As seen in the pic)

Thermostat was replaced 3 months back, im beginning to beleive its my coolant temp sensor.

What do you guys thinks?

I do t think it's the sensor if it's like that with the car off. I wonder if it's the stepper motor. I'll test a few things on my car tomorrow and post back.

probably the stepper in the cluster. My Fuel gauge would do the same I would turn the key on and off repeatedly until the gauge reset.

The very first line below where your needle is, is 140 degrees. So probably not lol.

Is it hot there? Because mine does that just from sitting in the sun on a hot day but hasn't otherwise. As hot as it is here I've never given it a second thought. I'll have to hook up my elm327 clone and see what it says before I start it when it's hot outside.
