Trouble code U0101
OK, the other day while driving the car my wife stopped the car while moving forward and then shifted into reverse because she had passed her sisters driveway. When she placed the car back in drive the engine light came on and the shift indicator was not working. We noticed that it was moving sluggishly and shortly found out that the transmission was starting off in third gear. I can get it to shift to second gear by shifting manually. The final thing is the speedometer does not work. I replaced the VSS hoping that this would fix the speedo issue and correct the other issues. Not so fast! :( The code is U0101 "Lost communication with the TCM". I believe it is in some sort of safe mode but can't find much info on the net. Anybody have any idea's or experience with this issue?
Thanks Charles Knapp 06 Silver Impala LT 3.5L

Hey there bro. Contact Dave at www.tripleedgeperformance.com. Sounds electrical, but I've never heard of that issue before. He'd know better.

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) lost communication with the Transmission Control Module (TCM). Try disconnecting the battery over night and then reconnect in the morning and see how the car drives. If that does not work then either the transmission connector which is under the shift mechanism on the tranny has broken or a wire from it has.

Thanks
Thanks for the input guys. I did try disconnecting the battery but it did not solve the problem. It did end up being a bad TCM though. Had it replaced and it solved the problems. Nothing like rolling the dice! I should go to Vegas!
