Hi guys. I decided to tackle the shift issue I had, the "high-rev" slip from 1st to 2nd. I had no codes before I did this job.
What ive done-
Dropped the tranny, took off the side cover and replaced the Pressure control solenoid, and the 1-2 shift solenoid. of course I replaced all gaskets and axle seal. put it all back together.
Car drove good for the first hour. I was at a stop light, and when I took off, car was draggin, I had the gas pedal to the floor, and it was really slow, and just shifting all weird.
Engine light came on P0757 solenoid B circuit stuck On.
Is this normal after doing a job like this??
I heard it takes time for the PCM or ECM to relearn the shifting points? Is that true? seems kinda hammy to me, I cant imagine customers at a garage having to deal with irratic shifting until the computer is relearning. but garages probably have the resources to reprogram?! :bang:
when I start off, it doesnt want to take off, which makes me think its stuck in 3rd gear, hence the 2-3 solenoid stuck on.. but if I put the lever in 1st, I can start in first, then it will shift fine until I stop again.
Then on the highway, at 70mph the RPM is at 4,500. which makes me think its stuck in 1st. It cant be stuck in 1st and 3rd. as long as im driving in the city its fine as long as I shift manually. this is not going to work tho cause I drive 20 mins on the highway to work each way.
Before I did a solenoid job on my car, The problem was "high rev slip" which means when I put it in drive, it will slowly take off like a standard tranny. but if I shifted it manually when starting off, it was fine and it shifted fine until I stopped again.
*I replaced PCS and 1-2 solenoid*
Now.. it just dont want to shift. it seems like first and second gear is working, and driving at 60+, the Rpm's are at 4,000+ and the engine light came on, P0757 "Solenoid B Circuit stock ON"
I did not mess with the 2-3 solenoid, like I said just replaced 1-2 and the PCS with New OE solenoids.
I have no clue what to do now, I dont want to have to tear that all apart, I made sure the wire harness was all cleaned of trans fluid, I made sure everything was plugged in and the harness was secured and not in the way, so there cant be any damage to the wiring, and if there was, that would probably cause a solenoid to be stuck off instead of on.
Any help, and advise is greatly appreciated.
I can't help you but if no one has advice here go to grandprixforums.net and create a account then post your issue in the transmission section there is a lot of knowledgeable ppl there
Either the 2-3 solenoid is mechanically stuck on or their are debris in the valve body causing the 2-3 shift valve to bind or other mechanical issues with the transmission.
I think there is a problem with the 1-2 he replaced so his car is stuck in 2-3 when he starts in 1 making it seem as if it doesn't down shift or is stuck on..
after all this work I did, there has been a hidden issue. 3 times I had to add fluid to the tranny cause it kept slippin and not shifting right. I let the car run 20 mins in driveway, saw no leaks. I was like "where the hell does the fluid go??" so I crawled under and looked up the rear side of tranny and I seen a Run spot coming down from the base of the filler tube, suspecting a bad gromet. took the dipstick tube out and there was a rust hole in the tube where it welds to the bracket. apparently it only leaked when driving.
I got a new one, put it in, topped the fluid off and took it for a ride.
About 5 miles down the road I came to a stop, and that was it. it just stopped shifting all together. no fwd, no reverse, nothing.
The tranny now whines just like a power steering pump whines when its low on fluid.
Is there any fix for this without replacing tranny? could I take the side cover off and replace the gears that are behind the valve body?
I agree! I actually would rebuild the Trans yourself since u obv have the tools to do so. If you can swap the solenoids you can rebuild a good portion of the Trans
Replace all solenoids, converter, hardend 4th gear, etc. And you might as well do a Trans go shift kit. Just realized u already did the shift kit. Oops
A rebuilt Trans is going to cost Atleast $1500. You can do it for much less
I have a feeling your original slip from 1-2 wasn't that bad and your attempt to fix it was not the greatest idea! Not trying to beat put u down but, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
All these pos slush box 4t65e tranny's slip over time. Do a shift kit and don't beat on them. End of story
