This is more of an observation than anything, and maybe someone in the know can shed some light on it..
I've only owned one of these cars (2002 Impala LS, 3800) so I don't have any other experience to compare mine against.
After doing the passlock bypass last weekend with the battery disconnected for several hours I assume it will have reset the PCM.
I noticed the shifts were a bit softer than before, and the torque converter lockup was much more gradual and almost un-noticable, where as before the TC lockup in 3rd is quite abrupt.
Infact the way the TC is locked I find quite annoying, in my opinion it's too early and too quick - unlike any of the Japanese cars I've had in the past where the TC lockup usually happens after you've started to lift off the accelerator (finished the acceleration process and cruising) and/or you hardly notice it apart form the rev counter quietly loosing a couple hundred RPM followed by a more direct feel to the accelerator pedal.
All week driving the 10 - 15 min trip to work and back each day the shifts were soft, cant say I liked that so much but TC lockup nice and smooth.
After taking the car out on a 40 mile open road round trip on the weekend, it's back to how it was, the gear shifts are nice and quick with out that mushy feeling - what I'd expect from an electronic box, and the TC lockup back to being quite noticeable. I cant imagine these cars were like this new?
Anyhow it doesn't bother me a whole lot now that I'm used to it, and know when to expect it. But just curious if anyone as an insight on this..
