01 LS....when she is in drive and i get on her a lil bit. she has started to "buck" on me. almost feels like she is jumping in and out of passing gear. i have enuf fluid and a filter for a pan drop/filter change. gonna do that prob. in a day or so. but wanna know if there is anything i should also look into while i have the pan off.
oh yeah. she does not do this in "3".
hope you all can help. thanks for your time in advance.
did not check cat. excessive speed sensors tripped on the abs code. but the pan drop/filter change seems to have taken care of the problem. will post back in a day for update.
okay she was better but not quite fixed. never really popped her into true passing gear that first day,but when i did she still bucks. but not when the car is cold. only after reaching full operating temp. now how much should i be looking at fund wise to get the cat checked?
Had same problem with my 2002 regal ls, turned out to be bad mass airflow sensor. You might try cleaning your MAF with the proper cleaner cost $5. New sensor $136 to $179.
Mine did not set a code either.
Unless you have a PCM tune that removed the P0420 code from the system, I wouldn't do that. Aftermarket cats are notorious for throwing that code in these cars, still cheaper to get a $40 cat and $150 tuned PCM than to get a $400-500 factory cat...
OMG. MAF sensor! THIS might be what's wrong with my 01 LS. It's bucking badly as well. Hmmmmm. Looks like I'm getting some CRC MAF cleaner in the morning!
I have this "Bucking" problem 2 times. Ive owned my 01 ls 3800 for 8+ years with 261k miles. both times it was the mass air flow sensor. The problem didnt occur unless the car was in gear but nearly without fail if i got into the pedal it would happen. cleaner sadly never worked for me.
