add a bit, start the car, let it warm up, check the dipstick and add as needed.

I dont have any recommends for a sealant but I use the black RTV on damn near anything.

There is a magnet in the pan, The new gasket should come with a new magnet but they dont always.....

The torque specs are 90 - 100 inch lbs for the transmission pan bolts.

What happened to the factory gasket? You should never get rid of those, they don't wear out. I wouldn't use any sealer, if its leaking there is another problem, possibly the pan needs straightened.

i had that same problem got a filter with a gasket and the gasket was trash, went to napa and got a similar factory one, like with the metal inside it real study, used no sealent and that did the job on my old impala, only reason i had to do it was i got my trans done a week before and that thing still leaked, leaked worse than before, first time i took my car into a shop and that was the last

If I had something like this happen I might drop the pan and start the refill from scratch. A tranny is just so easy to overfill. At least if you drop and drain the pan you have an idea where to start far as adding fluid.

it was sunday napa was closed and i wasnt driving out to advanced again so i used the crap one with sealer. i think the problem was the bolts were loose. the front ones came off too easily the back ones were tighter and we didnt torque them when we put the new filter on. this time i bought a torque wrench and they are good. so far shes holding

I use 76, because the company I order bulk from carries that brand. It doesn't really matter, they will all work just fine as long as they are dex VI.

I'm with kingnutin. Re-use the stock gasket, or buy a re-usable gasket for the pan. Has better edging than single-use gaskets. Cleaned the seal edge of my tranny and pan during all my fluid changouts, and I've never dripped a single drop to date. Not even moistness around a bolt.
