With that setup, the only restriction you'll be getting from the filter is if it's really dirty. Anyway, you won't need to do a tune, it will be ok without it, it will just be a lot better with it.

I would really like to know if this s tube really gives you more power because that is a lot cheaper then the k&n set up so if some one has this done can you tell me how much you feel? When you guys say Swiss cheese your air box what does that look like? How many holes? What size holes? I have a k&n stock fill in or should I find a cone?

I at one point had a panel K&N and would NOT recommend it. I never actually tested it but the stock filter is pretty good sized due to the long service intervals they were recommending on cars by the mid 90s.

I didn't seem to lose any power. I got snappier throttle response and a little quicker acceleration.

He probably needs to reset the PCM, and first chance you get. Either replace the stock box filter with a cone, or do the swiss cheese mod. That motor needs to breath, and even more so now that you start modding it a bit.
