I live in central PA, does anybody know of shops in PA that do LT1 rebuilds and performance modifications for my 96 SS. I'm looking for a turn-key place that can do the motor, trans and rear- target is 500HP.

Thats cool man i grew up in central pa. I haven't heard of anyone local. I remember hearing about a place in niagara falls ny, but thats about 4 hours away from you give or take. I think the owner of pcm for less is from indiana pa fyi, but i think his business is in another state, and i don't think they build. What town are you in? Maybe i can suggest some small shops for performance mods.

Performance Modifications

Hi, I have considerable experience with the lt1 engine and perform all services you would require to get where you are going with your project. I'd be happy to discuss your needs and can be reached at: (email address) This is my first post, although I have been a member for a while.

Thanks for the info. I decided to go with a 550HP crate motor. Gotta a guy near Philly to do the install. Closer man.

Golen motors typically show a 25% or so loss flywheel to rear wheel, that makes a 550hp $10k motor only putting 410-415 to the wheel.

Last hydraulic 383 Mike here posted numbers for was what 443rwhp.
Last stock shortblock he spruced up and put good heads and cam in made 425 at the wheel.

This is using shorter duration cams too.

Both of those with the same ported GM heads I am using, not necessary to spend the money on aftermarket heads.
