An Afternoon of Upgrades/Caprice 9C1

Hey , few quick questions: I have a 94 Caprice LT1 and was going to do some upgrades.
1) any advice/comments on a performance chip? Was thinking of going with the JetChip 2
2) I’ve seen it recommended to switch to a lower temp thermostat like a 180degree,
Ive also seen 160 degree ones, any drawbacks/concerns going with the 160?
3) how hard is it to swap TBIs in the LT1? What size is stock and what might be a good size to swap to? (Car is basically stock now with 2.25 mandrel bent exhaust, stock cats, resonators deleted and mufflers real similar to flowmasters and will be adding the K n N cold air setup at the same time)
4) Is it worth finding a high flow/low res MFI sensor for the car? Ive seen it where people have put ones from z28s or corvettes whatever. Is it a simple put in,click the connectors and it works? Would there be a noticeable improvement?
5) Is it worth re-routing the coolant away from the Throttle Body? Is it an easy thing to do?
AND would it be ok to do all/most of these mods at the same time or is there a particular order I should follow? The reason I ask is I have no garage and was thinking about getting a an acquaintance to lend me his workplace/tools and maybe a helping hand as I’m not very mechanically inclined (I’m trying tho)
Sorry about the long post,I’m just overly excited with my new car and with this site!
Ive learned a lot so far,you guys have been great!

to get say a bbk aftermarket t.b u have to do alot of OTHER upgrades to get the full potential that it has maybe cam work, springs ,roller rockers so for the money its not a good first upgrade , jsut put the money towards something else until u really need it

Quit horsing around with so called "chips." The best bang for your buck will be to have a computer tune. Many out there who handle that (pcm4less,trifecta,etc...) start there if you already have intake/exhaust handled. If you did your exhaust and did NOT install a true X pipe, not the kind they make you while your there, then you are missing out on a lot of mid range hp.

mods

OK thanks guys.....I will go for the pcm tune rather than a 'chip'
I wasnt quite sure what it was but Ive since researched and it makes sense.
I will also hold off on upgrading the TBU till I do headwork, cam, headers and such.
Should I hold off on getting a higher flow/lo-res MAF sensor or is that ok to do
as one of the first mods?
I can deal with 'not so hot heat' and will go with a 160degree t-stat
(unless theres a reason I shouldnt?)
Will rerouting the coolant around the tbu be a good first kinda mod?
will these 2 coolant type mods make any kind of noticable difference
in performance?
thanks in advance for all your help!
Pablo

Mods for a 9C1.

Have a look at the S&B filters web site they make a reasonable cold air intake for our cars.

Check with Mike at Focuztech he usually has them in stock, He is a sponsor of this forum. I got one when they were on sale and got a great deal.

Take off the first base and use a hockey puck from your favorite hockey team to fill the hole where first base was.

Check around your area for an Impala Club or F-body club they most likely have a computer tuner.

We have Ion http://www.madz28.com/ Ion has a mail order program.
